LALA Project | Building Capacity to Use Learning Analytics to Improve Higher
Education in Latin America (LALA)

The project will enable Latin American HEIs to make use of advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to provide analytics tools to academic decision makers. Traditionally, academic decision makers make use of the available data through simple report generation tools (Data cubes, Ad-hoc queries). The added-value of this type of tools is limited given that can only present to the decision maker a picture of what happened before. Learning Analytics tools use more advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to not only present what happened, but also estimate what can happen if the current trend continues (for example Drop-out early warning systems) or to provide information about how to optimize an existing process (for example a tool to improve current Curricula).

Project | Promoviendo el uso de las TIC en estudiantes de parroquias rurales de Cuenca

Problema: La parroquia Santa tiene una colección de diez instituciones de educación destinado a jóvenes entre 12 y 18 años de edad que carecen de las herramientas y de la motivación necesaria para continuar con sus estudios de educación superior. Además, los conocimientos en Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación en estas instituciones presentan una brecha con respecto al resto de instituciones del Cantón Cuenca. El proyecto busca reducir la brecha digital existente en los estudiantes de la parroquia Santa Ana y brindarles nuevas oportunidades de conocimiento. La tecnología es el canal que permitirá que los participantes de este proyecto puedan mejorar sus habilidades en el ámbito educativo y social lo que tendrá un impacto positivo en su vida laboral futura.
